The Sun Belt Conference home office announced this morning that ULM quarterback Kolton Browning is the week 11 Offensive player of the week.
Browning tied a school record with five touchdown passes in a 49-37 victory of North Texas Saturday afternoon.
Browning finished 2nd in the Louisiana Sports Writers Poll behind Louisiana State quarterback Jordan Jefferson (9-5 vote).
The Mabank, TX native has now tossed 17 touchdown passes which is tied for 5th most all time at ULM. Browning can tie ULM great Stan Humphries with a touchdown pass in Saturday's season finale against Louisiana-Lafayette.
Browning is making a strong case for the Sun Belt Conference's Freshman of the Year award. Another solid outing against the Cajuns could do it for the southpaw. His 251 yards of total offense per game average trails Troy Freshman QB Corey Robinson slightly (259 ypg).
His 2,388 pass yards place him 9th all time while his 217 completions are currently good for 3rd. Browning needs 26 completions to tie Doug Pederson's record of 243 that he set in 1989.
