A day after picking up a big commitment on the defensive side of the ball, the ULM Warhawks go more good news today when they gained the commitment from national powerhouse Jenks, Oklahoma offensive lineman Ben Risenhoover.
Risenhoover (6'3 285) visited Monroe this weekend and decided ULM was the place he wanted to continue his career. "I had to get back home early this morning but I called the ULM coaches tonight and told them I wanted to commit", said Ben.
"The campus, the coaches, and the city were all great, its one close knit group".
Ben was the lone returning senior for the Trojans on the offensive line in 2010. Jenks went on a remarkable run to the 6A title game finishing 15-1 as they dropped a heart breaker in the finals to Union 50-47.
On their way it was another typical year for one of the nations top programs. Several publications had the Trojans nationally ranked including #5 by the Massey Ratings, #13 by ESPN's Fab 50, and #23 by MaxPreps just to name a few.
"What sold me on ULM was the fact of what the future holds at ULM. They came up one point short of going to a bowl game. Just hearing the excitement in the coaches voices and hearing them talk about how they will never not make it to a bowl game again".
"I was the only offensive recruit in this weekend so I got to spend about and hour and a half with Coach Vice watching film. "He is not afraid to stick a Freshman in the game like he did in 2010. I'm going to get an opportunity to come in and prove I am one of the top 5 offensive linemen".
Ben is already academically qualified with a 3.0 GPA and a 22 on his ACT.
