No Smack - Savage To ULM

One of the top talents out of the state of Arkansas for the 2012 class is Smackover defensive lineman Jeff Savage. Jeff took his official visit to Monroe this past weekend and committed to the Warhawks.

ULM reeled in a big fish this weekend when Smackover defensive lineman Jeff Savage committed to the Warhawks.

Highly recruited, Jeff said he was in constant contact with Arkansas State, Mississippi State, LaTech, Arkansas, and Louisiana-Lafayette. "Pretty much all of the Louisiana schools were looking at me", said Savage.

Savage jumped on the ULM radar when he attended their last camp of the season - July 17th at Malone stadium.

"Both the offensive and defensive coaches said they were really impressed with me and ULM offered me a few days later".

"I felt a strong connection with Coach Reffett. He and coach Berry came to my basketball game last Tuesday night and I had an in home visit with them".

Savage said he is now at 270 pounds and stands right at 6'4. He runs a 4.82/40 and has an impressive 26 on his ACT to go along with a 3.2 GPA.

"My visit really sold me on ULM. Jason Edwards was a great host, he was 25% of my decision to come to ULM". "Just talking to him and getting all of the positives and negatives was great to hear". "I got honest answers".

Jeff said he is planning on majoring in Kinesiology with a minor is Mathematics.

"The food was awesome but another thing that was really cool was I brought my 9 year old brother Alex with me and ULM didn't mind at all". "He had a great time hanging out with me and the current players and coaches". "That sold me on ULM".

Savage played TE as a Junior and OL as a senior but is being recruited by ULM to play DT or DE.
