Warhawks Grab Big Target

Warhawks Grab Big Target

One of the missing ingredients in the ULM offense has been the presence of a tall big play wide receiver that can win the 1 on 1 matchups on the outside. Warhawk Nation has the scoop on this weekends big pickup.

The Warhawks added a big piece to their 2012 recruiting class by grabbing 6'4 wide receiver Tony Cook from one of the premium programs in Desoto, Texas.

Flying relatively low in the recruiting circuit, Cook was on the JV squad up until his senior season because of the WR depth on the Desoto roster.

"ULM offered me about 2-3 weeks ago", said Cook. "I visited this past weekend and really felt a bond with the players and the coaching staff".

Cook wasn't able to hit too many camps because of 7 on 7 tournaments but did shine at the Houston camp where he posted a 4.48 forty time and a 39 inch vertical jump.

Several programs were looking at Cook but he said ULM stood out because of their style of offense. "ULM throws it more than some of the schools that were also recruiting me".

"ULM wants me on the outside, they needed a big receiver that can go up over smaller db's in crunch time and make a big play".

Cook's teammate Ridge Jones also holds a ULM offer and was on a recruiting trip to Wyoming this past weekend. Cook offered his prediction on where he thinks Jones will end up. "I think Monroe", said Tony.

Cook is planning on majoring in business at ULM. He holds a 3.6 GPA and scored a 1350 on his SAT.
