Haggerty Talks ULM Visit

Warhawk Nation spoke with former Air Force commitment DeVonte Haggerty Sunday night about his visit to ULM this weekend. Haggerty was at practice when the Warhawks got the news on the Independence Bowl invitation as was another high profile 2013 prospect.

Tyler, TX wide out DeVonte Haggerty has officially left the Air Force academy and was on the campus of ULM this weekend filling out the necessary paperwork to allow him to become a Warhawk.

"My foot is in the door now", said Haggerty. "My visit was great, all the players embraced me like I was already a part of the team".

Jyruss Edwards was my host and everybody knows who Jyruss the ULM running back is but he's pretty laid back off the football field". "He showed me around and introduced me to everyone".

"ULM is like a city inside the city of Monroe", said DeVonte. "I felt like I was finally home when I was on my visit". "Honestly when it was time to go I didn't want to leave, I almost told my dad to go ahead, I'm staying".

Haggerty never actually enrolled at Air Force, just the prep school before and will be eligible this spring. He will count towards the 2013 scholarship class and is being recruited to play the slot WR (H spot) at ULM.

DeVonte wasn't the only big name on campus this weekend either. 3 star nationally ranked OLB Caleb Tucker was also in attendance when the Warhawks erupted upon hearing their bowl destination.

"Caleb had a good time too", said Haggerty. "He told me he has a visit to Texas Tech next weekend but said he felt he was already coming to ULM".

Local athletes that have lived in the area their entire lives sometimes would rather get away but as in previous cases once the recruit gets on campus and see's the campus from the inside out, it changes their prospective.

Haggerty said it had that affect on Tucker.

"Caleb said ULM has always just been right down the road and his thought process was to get away from home to play college ball but he said once he got on campus things were way different".

Former Ouachita standout Cameron Blakes also sat down with Caleb and expresses his experiences about staying closer to home and playing for the Warhawks.

Warhawk Nation will try and catchup to Caleb to get more information on his visit and where things stand with him. Tucker is a December graduate.
