ULM quarterback Kolton Browning has been named 2012 Sun Belt Conference offensive player of the year. Browning led the Warhawks to a 8-4 record and a birth in the Advocare V100 Independence Bowl.
Browning, a junior, has thrown for 2,830 yards and 27 touchdowns while completing 65% of his passes. Kolton also led the Warhawks in rushing with 441 yards on 112 carries and 7 touchdowns. His 297 yards of offense per game are tied for tops in the Sun Belt.
Browning's 58 career touchdown passes are an all time ULM record breaking former quarterback Steven Jyles record of 55 from 2002-2005.
Coach Todd Berry led the Warhawks to their first ever winning season as a member of the football bowl subdivision. ULM finished tied for second in the Sun Belt conference with a 6-2 mark and overall record of 8-4 with one game to play.
