Warhawks > Golden Eagles In 6-5 Victory

ULM rallied at home Tuesday night to take a 6-5 win over No. 24 Southern Miss at Warhawk Field.

On a chilly night, Corben Green had the hot bat. He collected two hits and scored two runs with three RBIs, including a two-run home run to tie the game late.

A sacrifice fly in the eighth inning by leadoff man Dalton Herrington pushed across the winning run.

One of six ULM pitchers on the night, Devin Malone pitched the ninth and shook off two USM hits in the ninth to collect his second save. Jared Dye (1-0) earned the win in relief, entering in eighth and allowing one hit before forcing a fly out to end the top of the eighth.

The Warhawks improved to 5-3 before a crowd of 1,229.

USM (5-3) led 2-0 in the first but the Warhawks tied it in the bottom of the frame. Southern Miss took an early lead as they scored two runs in the top half of the first inning off ULM starter Andrew Richardson.The Warhawks went ahead 3-2 in the third but again Southern Miss tied it in the fourth at 3-3. With runs in the sixth and seventh innings, Southern Miss reclaimed the advantage at 5-3. Green's two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh tied it up at 5-5.

The Warhawks are back on the road this weekend with a three-game set at Memphis, starting at 4 p.m. on Friday.
