Northeast Louisiana has quite a collection of big time athletes and some guys you might not have heard of. It was a big night for a pair of West Monroe Rebel running backs who both went over 100 yards. The Rayville Hornets have a standout that put up 5 touchdowns all by himself.
The Huntington Raiders pulled off a big upset over the Ruston Bearcats by the score of 36-31. Raider sophomore QB/RB Jerett Fobbs led the way with 142 yards on 20 carries and touchdown runs of 49 and 52 yards.
Ruston quarterback Nick Rome who transfered from Calvary Baptist, completed 14/27 passes for 198 yards and touchdowns of 14 and 28 yards.
East St. John traveled north to take on the undefeated Bastrop Rams and came up short 22-7. Randall Mackey completed 23/34 passes for 208 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Randall also led Bastrop on the ground with 103 yards on 16 carries and touchdown. Alex Singleton led the Wildcats with 84 yards on 20 carries.
The Marshall Maverick paid a visit to Bill Ruple stadium to take on the Neville Tigers and left with a hard fought 30-23 victory. Marshall rolled up 330 rushing yards and were led by Andrew Clough who totaled 174 on 26 carries and scored on runs of 1 and 73 yards.
The Tigers have a scat back of their own in Michael Graves. Graves scored on a 76 yard touchdown run and finished with 160 yards on 16 carries.
From Thursday nights action Oak Grove made the drive west to take on the Sterlington Panthers and got a big win 40-27. The panthers were without starting running back Deshanti Mitchell who is nursing a sore ankle.
Tory Williams stepped up big time in his absence score on a 93 yard kickoff return, a 23 yard reception and recovering a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown. Sterlington sophomore qb Logan Dopson passed for 281 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The #1 ranked West Monroe Rebels hosted the Ouachita Lions and came away with a big 55-23 victory. Don Brown was a beast all night rolling up 149 yards rushing and scoring 3 touchdowns. His partner, junior RB LaDarius Abrams also ran for 119 yards on 14 carries. The Lions were led by JR running back Montrell Conner.
Conner ran the ball 20 times for 132 yards and one touchdown of 38 yards. OPHS WR Ravecus Jones finished with 107 receiving yards on 3 catches and a 65 yard touchdown.
Rayville quarterback Justin Higgins was on fire in a big win over Franklin parish. Higgins hit on 13/16 passes for 240 yards and a whopping 5 touchdowns. He also led the hornets rushing attack with 81 yards on 5 carries. Kenny Bell had a big night receiving with 5 catches for 169 yards and touchdown grabs of 36, 38, and 44 yards.
