Lutcher QB Blaine Gautier Lighting It Up

QB Blaine Gautier

Few quarterbacks in the state of Louisiana can say they are putting up numbers like Lutcher Bulldog Blaine Gautier. Several in and out of state schools are keeping an eye on the talented dual threat quarterback.

The Lutcher Bulldogs are sitting at 7-1 on the season and if not for a thrilling 48-47 overtime loss to East Ascension, they would still be undefeated. Quarterback Blaine Gautier has been nothing less than spectacular in leading his team towards another state championship run.

"We have a very good offense and our defense is just shutting people down", said Gautier. The Bulldogs are the defending class 3A state champions. They defeated a very talented Independence team 27-7 to claim the title in the Superdome last year. "We know what it takes to get back to the dome. If we just play our game week to week, we will be alright".

The Bulldogs are 3-0 in conference and face Plaquemine this Friday night. "We respect them just like every other opponent. They are in a must win situation to make the playoffs so their backs are against the wall. We know we are going to get their best shot. Everyone is gunning for us so we have to play our best every week in order to win".

Through eight weeks of the season, Blaine has the 5th most passing yards and 3rd most touchdown passes in the state. Blaine is 129/213 for 1,803 yards , 22 touchdown passes, and only 6 int's. Blaine is completing 61% of his passes, has 6 rushing touchdowns and is averaging 14 yards per completion.

So which schools have started to take notice of Blaine his senior year? "I have one offer that I got over the summer from Southeastern. I have been to two of their games to check them out. ULM has been in contact with me as well. They came to watch me play this past Friday night. Blaine also said in state schools ULL and McNeese State have been in contact with him.

Several out of state schools are starting to take notice as well. "South Florida offensive coordinator Greg Gregory has requested film on me and Randy Sanders of Kentucky as well". Gautier, who carries a 3.2 GPA, says distance will not be a factor when me makes his decision on a college. Academics are very important to me as well as a coaching staff I can bond with".
