The ULM Warhawks defeated the Grambling Tigers 28-14 in the first ever meeting between the two schools. Separated by roughly 40 miles, GSU and ULM fans came together to set the all time attendance record of 30,101 in Malone Stadium tonight. The old record of 28,725 was set back on October 10, 1998 of 28,725 against LaTech and stood for almost ten years.

ULM wasted no time getting the first score on the game. Calvin Dawson took the handoff sweeping left and scooted 21 yards untouched for a quick 7-0 lead. The Warhawks would give it right back on their next possession when quarterback Kinsmon Lancaster and Darrell McNeal were not on the same page. The pass was picked off by GSU's DeMichael Dizer and returned 28 yards to make the score 7-7.

When 9:07 left in the second quarter the home team would seize the score back. Redshirt Freshman Frank "The Tank" Goodin took the handoff and rumbled 9 yards for the score giving ULM a 14-7 lead at the half.

After an entertaining halftime by the Grambling band, ULM would stretch the lead out to 21-7 when Lancaster found TE Zeek Zacharie for a nice 29 touchdown strike.

The Warhawk defense gave up a lone scored to the Tigers when Brandon Landers found Nick Lewis for a 63 yard bomb to cut the ULM lead to 21-14. That would the closest the Tigers would get as they struggled to just 9 first downs the entire game.

The ULM offensive line started to take control of the game in the third and opened up a hole for Dawson to score his second touchdown on the night, this one from 10 yards out. The Warhawks controlled the clock with their power rushing attack holding the ball for 37 minutes compared to just 22 minutes for GSU.

Both Calvin Dawson and Frank Goodin topped the 100 yard rushing mark on the night. It is the third time this season the Warhawks have had 2 rushers go over 100 yards in a game. On the night ULM finished with 212 rushing yards, their 7th game to go over the 200 yard rushing mark this season.

The Grambling offensive line struggled to stop the ULM pass rush and finished with negative 4 yards rushing on 24 carries. The Warhawks sacked Landers 5 times and picked him off twice.

ULM finished the night with 390 yards of offense compared to just 165 for Grambling. Dawson finished with 100 yards on 23 carries while Goodin lead ULM with 106 yards on 23 carries. ULM held GSU's go to guy, wide out Clyde Edwards to just 21 yards on 2 catches.

ULM will go on the road next week when they travel to Bryant Denny Stadium to take on the Crimson Tide of Alabama. Kickoff is set for 1:30 PM.
