With last nights win over the ULL Cajuns, the ULM Warhawks reached the 6 win plateau and are now bowl eligible. Louisiana Monroe has impressive BCS road win over Alabama on their resume.
The ULM Warhawks finished the season strong and are a very hot team right now winning 6 of their last 8 ball games. A group of close to 500 fans made the 3 hour trip and withstood the cold, wet weather to cheer on their Warhawks.
ULM joined the FBS back in 1994, thirteen seasons ago. The Warhawks finally broke through back in 2005 when they won a share of the SBC Championship but missed out on a bowl game due to tie breaker rules.
This year however, ULM finally broke the curse. Thirteen years of a losing season ended with a 17-11 road win over the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns.
In the past two weeks the Warhawks have probably had the two biggest wins in school history since the move to 1-A. ULM shocked one of the most storied programs in college football history when they went on the road and defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 21-14 last week.
Whatever the outcome the ULM Warhawks have come a long way and will look to continue this success in the 2008 season. The Warhawks will return 8 starters on offense and 7 on defense.
