Several Big Talents On Official Visit

RB Luther Ambrose

With fourteen athletes already committed to the 2008 ULM class, the Warhawks are looking to finish this recruiting season strong. The Warhawks are trying to land some of the nations top talent this weekend.

The ULM Warhawks are quietly putting together one of their best if not best, recruiting class in the Coach Charlie Weatherbie era. With fourteen commitments so far the Warhawks are hoping they can seal the deal this weekend when several of the nation's top talents will be on campus for official visits.

At the quarterback position, Elysian Fields Tim Curry will be making his official visit to the ULM campus. The Warhawks have been heavenly recruiting the talented Curry since he showed up for a camp back in the summer of 2007. "My family and I are pumped up about the visit", said Curry. "I want to have fun while I am there."

With the departure of the schools all time leading rusher in Calvin Dawson, the coaching staff is looking for a talented back to come in and fill his shoes. Luther Ambrose of St James High and Chris Adkins from Jenks Ok, are two of the nations top 100 backs that will be on campus to check out the Warhawks. Ambrose, who was clocked at 4.29 at a recent scout combine is a shifty back that only needs a shed of light to take it the distance. "I am looking forward to my visit" said Ambrose. I want to check out the facilities and the study halls while I am there".

The same can also be said for Adkins 5'9 195. His cutback ability, vision, and Instincts are what make a big time threat on the football field. As a senior, Adkins rushed for 1,837 yards and 32 touchdowns to help Jenks capture their second straight State Championship.

Linebacker is also a position ULM is looking to gain strength at. Two of the best in the state of Texas are at the top of the list. DaCorris Ford of Longview High and Rodney Chadwick of Carthage High both bring size and speed to the linebacker position. Ford, a 6'2 210 pounder had a sensational senior season recording over 100 tackles. He was also named all district and made the class 5A All State honorable mention list.

Another speedy athlete making the trip is O.P.Walker WR/KR/RB Wayne Jacobs. Jacobs stands 5'5 but turned in an impressive 4.41 scout combine forty time and at times can be hard to get a hold of because of his low center of gravity. He was used in a variety of ways this past season, and each one resulted in a touchdown.

The Warhawks also might receive a visit from a talented athlete from Homer high school named Richie Casey. Casey is an all around solid athlete that did it all for the Pelicans this past season. Casey recently gave his verbal to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs but is still planning on taking his visits.

Stay tuned to WarhawkNation as we update these situations the following weeks to come.
