Jacob Howard (1-0) picked up the win for the Bearkats (3-2) tossing five innings of four-hit ball allowing two runs one earned and striking out seven ULM (4-2) batters. Casey Springer threw the ninth inning for his first save of the season.

ULM struck in the bottom of the third with an RBI off the bat of Ben Soignier. Sam Houston extended its lead to 3-1 on a base hit by Braeden Riley in the fourth.
Playing in his first game for the Warhawks, Nick Maragas singled through the left side of the infield scoring A.J. Siggers. It was Maragas' first hit and RBI of the season pulling ULM within a run at 3-2.
Josh Lett (1-1) was saddled with the loss for the Warhawks allowing four runs three earned in six innings on the mound. He yielded 11 hits while walking one and striking out one.
The teams continue the three-game series Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The Warhawks will send Ryan Kirk (1-0, 4.76) to the bump while the Bearkats counter with Brent Powers (0-0, 11.57).
