ULM Sophomore Matt Laird battled back from a 1-2 count and hit a 3-2 fastball off the scoreboard in left center field to break open a close 8-6 ballgame here at Warhawk field this afternoon.
Laird, who was the Designated Hitter, already had one home run, a solo shot back in the bottom of the second inning that gave ULM a 4-0 lead. ULM catcher Nick Maragas continued his hot weekend with 3rd home run of the year as well as driving in 7 runs.
Warhawk Ace Josh Lett had a rough day at the office lasting only 4 innings. He allowed five runs (4 earned) on seven hits, walked three and struck out three. Shortstop Ben Soignier worked the final inning and a third to pick up his second save of the season. (Below: Josh Lett)

Center fielder A.J. Siggers had himself quite a weekend as well. The lefty went 7/12 (.583) with 4 runs scored. Lead off hitter Jon Prevost has found his stroke as well going 6/14 (.428) with 2 home runs, four RBI, and 4 runs scored. Laird, who sat out Friday's contest, finished the weekend 4/8 (.500) with 2 home runs, 6 RBI and 3 runs scored.
With the win, ULM (20-9, 12-3) takes its 5th conference series and currently has a 1.5 game on the Troy Trojans.
