Bullard Texas athlete William Moore has jumped on board with the 2009 ULM Warhawk recruiting class. "I called Coach Weatherbie and Coach Farmer last night and told them I wanted to commit", said Charlie.
Moore is a versatile athlete that can come to ULM and play several positions. He is the starting quarterback and also doubles as the team's leader on defense at the safety position. "The coaches will take a look at me at quarterback but more than likely I will fill a receiver, safety or tight end position."
"I can do all three, it doesn't really matter to me, I am just happy to be apart of the ULM program", said Charlie. The Warhawks will be losing one of the best tight ends to come through the program in Zeek Zacharie after this season. "I met Zeek, he was huge", joked the 6'3 205 pound Moore. Ahh, but Zeek came to ULM a 6'3 195 pound athlete and now weighs in at 245.
Whatever position Charlie does line up at, you can bet he will be giving it his all. As a sophomore he registered 95 tackles and was named 1st team All-District. Charlie followed that up with a junior season that saw him record 70 tackles with 5 interceptions and take home 1st team All-State honors.
Charlie attended the Sulpher camp that the ULM coaching staff put on in early June and recently took an unofficial visit to the campus of ULM to check things out. Moore was clocked at 4.7 in the forty. Last season he threw for right at 1,300 yards with 8 touchdowns. He also ran for 796 yards and 15 more scores.
"I had a really good time meeting all the coaches and touring the campus. They are renovating the locker rooms, I am looking forward to seeing the finished product. I could tell I would fit in real well at ULM. The coaching staff is great and I can see my relationship with them continuing to grow. I'm excited, ULM is a program that is on its way up and I want to be a part of it".
Charlie was a participant in camps put on by Utep, Rice, Houston, Arkansas, and Louisiana Tech but was yet to pick up any other offers. "Utep and Arkansas really like me but they wanted to watch me on film during my senior season".
Bullard finished the 2007 campaign with a 6-4 record and 3-3 in district play. "We missed the playoffs last year losing three games by a total of 5 points. One in OT, one on a last second throw, and one with 19 seconds left. We should be pretty decent this year. All of our skill position players return as well as most of our defense. Offensive line will be the question mark early on but I think we will be ok".
Moore, who is ranked 5th in his class with a 4.7 GPA says he will probably look to major in business or general studies at the college level.
