ULM Recruits Pick Up Post Season Awards

As the 2008 season comes to an end, several 2009 verbal commitments to ULM have picked up post season awards for their efforts on the football field.

Kolton Browning - Named All Henderson County Player of the Year for MaBank. Just three weeks ago Browning was named Offensive MVP of District 15-4A, Mabank's first year in class 4A. In 2 years as the starting quarterback, Kolton put up over 8,000 yards of offense and scored 76 touchdowns.

Cameron Blakes - Blakes was named All State Honorable mention in a very competitive class 5A in the state of Louisiana. Cameron was used as a down lineman, Linebacker, and defensive back for the Ouachita Lions and is known for his bone crushing hits that he delivers.

Blakes, playing mostly from the down line, finished 2008 with 85 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, 1 FF and 1 FR. As a Junior playing linebacker, he finished with 81 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2 int's, 2 sacks, forced 2 fumbles and recovered 2. Playing as a safety as a sophomore, Blakes tallied 90 tackles, 8 sacks, and picked off 3 passes.

Totals as a 3 year starter: 256 tackles, 23 sacks, 6 int's

Aaron Munoz - Named to the Pensacola News Journal All First Team after posting over 2,000 total yards of offense and 20 touchdowns. Pace lost 35 seniors in 2007 but Munoz and company still were able to get the Patriots back into the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Ben Giles - Named to the Pensacola News Journal All First Team on defense. Giles was a force to deal with leading the team and are with 8 quarterback sacks and stops behind the line of scrimmage.

Otis Peterson - Belle Chasse wide receiver Otis Peterson played a huge role in leading the Cardinals to the Class 4A state championship game and bringing home the title. Peterson was named All State Honorable Mention for his performance.

Otis finished 2008 with 42 catches, a little over 1,000 yards, and 7 touchdowns, and he did it in only 10 games. In two seasons Otis recorded 80 catches, 1,700 yards, and 14 touchdowns.

Andrew Russell - Richardson Eagles offensive lineman Andrew Russell was named to the Class 9-5A All District 1st Team.
