Ouachita wide receiver Brandon Williams took an official visit to the campus of ULM back in mid December but didn't commit, needing more time to think about his future and all of his options. This past Wednesday he had made his mind up and decided he wanted to continue his career locally for the ULM Warhawks.
"I called Coach Leahy up this past Wednesday and told him I was ready to commit", said Williams. He really wasn't expecting my call but he was excited that I came on board. I sat down, talked with my family and we decided this was the place for me to be. I just prayed about it and if God didn't want me to be here, I would be somewhere else.
A District 1-5A first team selection at WR, Williams says playing in front of the home crowd was a big factor for him. "You want to go where your known, where people love you, a place that feels like home. ULM has a great buisness school, a nice campus, and a great coaching staff. I know a lot of guys that already play for ULM, some I played with and against".
Williams finished his 2008 season with over 40 catches for 600+ yards and 6 touchdowns. He also proved himself as a great down field blocker for the Ouachita run game.
Brandon's father Lee Williams was also a graduate of Ouachita high school. He continued his career at Valley Forge Academy where he transferred to LSU and was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers and played 2 years.
Brandon makes the 11th commitment for the Warhawks.
