Blakes Takes Home MVP Honors

Blakes Brought It All Day

The 1st Annual Sportsman Paradise featured the best the state of Louisiana has to offer and included some of the top prospects in the nation. All State defensive back Cameron Blakes put his skills on display and walked away with defensive MVP honors.

"Man the atmosphere was unbelievable, I had a great time playing with those guys. Guys like Michael Ford, Darrington Sentimore were great to hang out with and compete against", said Cameron Blakes.

Being around some of the best athletes in the nation, how did Blakes think he stacked up? "There were a lot of good athletes out there but I have to say I held my own out there, no one ran through my arm tackles".

Although the red team cruised to a 38-7 victory, Blakes made a name for himself on the defensive side of the ball. "I finished with 8 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, forced 2 fumbles and recovered one that I returned 26 yards for our only touchdown".

For his efforts Cameron was named the Defensive MVP.

"I was shocked you know. It was a big honor to just be invited and when your out there playing you don't think about awards but it was exciting to win MVP.

Blakes also commented on teammate Brandon Williams recent commitment to the ULM Warhawks. "Excited to hear that, I know Brandon was looking at ULM hard and to hear he committed means we will get to continue our careers together, we have been playing together since pee wee football.

On Blakes personal recruitment he says several teams are still recruiting him hard and trying to get him to visit. Arkansas, LaTech, ULL and Tulane have all offered but my commitment to ULM is solid, its where I want to continue my career".
