Banner Day For ULM Warhawks

Aaron Munoz

The Warhawks enjoyed a banner day as 25 athletes signed on the dotted line and officially became members of the ULM Warhawks. ULM went 25/25 on the day getting every kid they had verbally committed and even picked up a couple of surprises.

It was an exciting and sometimes nerve racking day as athletes faxed in their 2009 National Letters of Intent to ULM Wednesday morning. Nick Hawkins was the early bird winner as his NLI was the first off the press. The smoke cleared as the last three rolled off the fax machine, Cameron Blakes, Kevin White, and Otis Peterson giving ULM a perfect 25/25 on signing day.

There were a couple of surprises as well. North Gwinnett high school corner back visited ULM back in late January, left with an offer, but still finished taking his visits. "I am extremely excited we were able to get Robert", ULM defensive back coach Darrell Perkins said. "Robert is a true corner guy. His ball instincts are incredible. If he was only a Junior right now we would have never got him, the SEC would be all over this kid".

ULM also got a BIG boost when Tyler JC offensive lineman Fonda White (6'3 325) gave his commitment to the Warhawks. White will give depth to the Warhawks at the guard positions.

ULM got commitments from six different states across the south and even went West Coast to sunny California for another.

Texas - 11

Mississippi - 6

Louisiana - 5

Georgia - 2

Florida - 2

California - 1
