Warhawks Grab Big Play Prospect

Warhawks Grab Big Play Prospect

"I've been watching ULM on TV and I know they are undefeated in conference play. I just decided it was time to end it all and commit to them now. Who is this big play prospect? Get inside to find out!

"The Warhawks have been patiently waiting for Leesville wide out Jeron Hamm to give his verbal commitment to the program. Last weekend they got their wish when Hamm called receiver coach Marty Humphrey and broke the news to him.

"Coach Humphrey was like, "Are you serious", said Hamm. I told him I was. I tried to call Coach Collins because he recruited me but it was like 11 o'clock Friday night. Coach Humphrey said that they have been waiting on this phone call and were very excited. Coach Weatherbie is supposed to call me this week sometime".

Je'ron is familiar with ULM and it's surroundings. In addition to attending the Warhawks one day camp in Sulpher, Hamm attended the one day camp in Monroe over the summer and returned later in the summer for another unofficial visit.

"The ULM coaches clocked me at 4.6 two separate times on my forty yard dash. I have a personal best 4.56 that I turned in at school". Coming into the summer Hamm was 6'2 195 but since has hit a big growing spurt. "I'm 6'4 207 now", said Hamm.

With 6'3 deep threat LaGregory Sapp graduating after this season, Hamm is just the replacement the Warhawks were looking for.

"ULM has three senior wide receivers so I'm not gonna lie that had something to do with my interest in ULM. If I work hard I think I can come in and earn some early playing time. I came to the Texas State game and have watched their games against Arkansas State and Kentucky on TV. They look really good. I know they are undefeated in conference play".

I sent a text to Jon Fisher and told him I committed. We exchanged text during the Kentucky game saying we sure wish we were already playing", joked Hamm.

"I like that ULM throws the ball a good bit and they have some really good running backs to compliment them. Plus that big quarterback (Trey Revell) will be back next season. I knew ULM was only taking about 2 WR's in this class so I just went ahead and jumped on board before it was too late".

Hamm will be setting up his official visit to ULM after the football season. He is looking to major in psychology or physical therapy. Je'ron has 3.4 GPA (3.0 core) and scored a 22 on his ACT. On the season, Hamm has 25 receptions for 430 yards and scored 6 touchdowns.
